Alan Satterlee, joined the Glacier Symphony and Chorale as Executive Director in May 2006. Satterlee grew up in Whitefish, Montana and holds a B.S. degree in Earth Sciences from Montana State University. Upon completing university, he embarked upon a 19-year career with Texaco including overseas positions in China, Indonesia, and Myanmar, ultimately as Vice President of Marketing – Gas and Power in Houston, Texas. Satterlee left Texaco in 1999 to pursue a career in the non-profit sector. For two years, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of SEARCH Homeless Project, the second largest social service agency serving the homeless in Houston, Texas. He then joined Hope Ranch in Whitefish, Montana as Director of Development for one year, then served the Glacier Symphony and Chorale as Interim Executive Director from Nov. 2003 to June 2004. He and his wife then opened a social service agency called Northwest Passages which provides transitional living services to young women in recovery.
Alan Satterlee brings a wealth of business and administrative skills to the Glacier Symphony and Chorale. He has managed offices and operations with over 100 employees and his experience in overseas locations has provided him with tremendous diversity and a unique cultural perspective. He has operational experience in leading large non-profit organizations, and fund raising experience in northwestern Montana. Satterlee sang with the Denver Chorale for 2 years in the early 1980’s. Alan has always loved music and looks forward to providing new insights and leadership to the Glacier Symphony and Chorale as it grows and expands as the premier Arts organization in northwestern Montana.
Alan lives in Kalispell, with his wife Kandy. They have two children, a daughter Aleana, and a son Charlie.
